Emre Farms is in the heart of Ontario’s Garden by the shore of Lake Erie on the sand plains of Norfolk County. This is where the soil, sun and rain perfectly combine to produce many tasty crops — best of all delicious, nutritious potatoes.
We have been caring for this land and feeding people from it for five, going on six, generations.
Dig Into Our StoryTater Tidbits
Did you know?
There was a time when potatoes were traded with gold directly. During the 1890’s Alaskan Klondlike gold rush, potatoes were so valued for their vitamin C content that minors traded gold for potatoes!
Caring for our Crop
Your crop is grown to the most rigorous food safety standards, is audited by Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) inspectors and licensed under the Safe Food for Canadians Act.
Tending to our soil
As well as harvesting fresh potatoes we are out working land and tending to our rotational crops. We don’t want to be just sustainable, we want to improve our soil year after year. That is what success looks like to Emre Farms.
Project Earthworm
Earthworms burrow into the land, which improves the flow of air and water through the soil. They also act like living fertilizer mixers, with one end eating organic material and the other end depositing rich nutrients throughout the underground world they share with potatoes.
Always fresh Emre potatoes
We carefully plan which potatoes to plant and at what time to ensure we have potatoes developing at different times. We have some early varieties and late varieties and everything in between.
Ask your grocer to contact us so they too can carry delicious Emre potatoes.
